My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is an autobiographical show by Rob Madge about a childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade at home for their Grandma. As Rob performed as Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse and Belle, family members tried to keep the show on track, with mixed results.
The story includes Dad acting as Stage Manager, Sound Technician and Goofy, while Mum mistook Aladdin for Ursula. It is a personal theatre piece built around that home-made parade and Rob’s effort to recreate it as originally imagined.
Awarded Best Off-West End Production 2022 by WhatsOnStage. Running time: 1 hour 5 minutes.
