My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) at Shaftesbury Ave, Soho, London W1D 7EZ is an autobiographical show from West End Musical Theatre star and social-media sensation Rob Madge. It began with a childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade at home for Rob’s Grandma, with Rob performing as Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse and Belle while Dad took on multiple backstage roles.
The story revisits that family performance and the mishaps around it: Dad missed cues, the floats went in the wrong direction, and Mum mistook Aladdin for Ursula. Grandma, however, had a nice time.
The show was awarded Best Off-West End Production 2022 by WhatsOnStage.
