About The Comedy About Spies

The Comedy About Spies is at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End. Mischief’s award-winning play returns for a limited 8-week run this summer, following a sold-out 2025 summer season. It was named Best New Play at the WhatsOnStage Awards 2026.

This 1960s spy comedy begins when a rogue British agent steals plans for a top-secret weapon, drawing CIA and KGB spies to London’s Piccadilly Hotel in search of the missing file. The story follows a clueless young couple, a hapless actor hoping for a spy film role, and a string of double agents caught up in a mission that quickly unravels.

From the team behind The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, the show combines confused identities, tangled missions and miscommunication in a fast-moving stage comedy. It has been described by critics as “breathlessly funny” and “hilarious”.

Running time: 2 hours 20 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.
