SPEAKING IN TONGUES - TALKING HEADS: 1977-2027
50 years since the debut LP was released by Talking Heads 'Talking Heads: 77', Speaking in Tongues celebrate the iconic album performing selections from the album along with the hits and fan favourites from the Talking Heads back catalgoue.
Talking Heads formed in New York City in 1975. The group consisted of David Byrne on vocals and guitar, Chris Frantz on drums, Tina Weymouth on bass, and Jerry Harrison on keyboards and guitar. Emerging from New York's punk and new-wave scene, the band became known for combining rock with elements of funk, punk, art rock, and world music. Their intelligent, unusual lyrics and distinctive rhythms helped them stand apart from many other bands of the era. Some of their best-known songs include 'Psycho Killer', 'Once in a Lifetime', 'Burning Down the House' and 'Road to Nowhere'.
Albums such as Fear of Music, Remain in Light, and Speaking in Tongues received widespread acclaim, while their 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense became especially celebrated. The band stopped performing together in the early 1990s, with the members pursuing other musical projects.
Speaking in Tongues have been one of the world's finest groups celebrating the music of Talking Heads for over 20+ years. We are thrilled to welcome them back to London for their first concert in years.
