Tao Of Glass at 4 Soho Place is a West End premiere from composer Philip Glass and performer-director Phelim McDermott (Improbable). It explores life, loss and the question of where true inspiration comes from, bringing together Taoist ideas, music and storytelling.
Glass and McDermott have worked together on opera productions in London, New York and beyond. In this piece, McDermott presents ten meditations on life, death and Taoist wisdom alongside ten new pieces of music from Glass, with an ensemble of musicians and puppeteers.
The production is part-concert, part-performance, and has received five-star reviews from The Guardian, The Times and What’s On Stage, with four stars from The Telegraph, The Observer and The Arts Desk. It is produced by Factory International, Improbable and Nica Burns.
