About

Dave Watt (aka Captain Breadbeard) hosts his monthly alternative stand-up  comedy night in the heart of Canterbury.

April's special guests include Alwin Solanky, Liz Bains, Callum Straford, Mike Orvis, Mark Moloney and Nadine Bailey!

Alwin Solanky

Alwin has been in and around comedy since 2008. A member of the award winning Wierdos collective and Leicester Comedy Festival nominated Consignia.  Co MC of alternative comedy night Wondersplash at Three Hounds bottle shop in Beckenham.  Alwin’s comedy may involve props including wigs, animal masks and 2 dimensional  moving mouth posters.

Liz Bains

Liz Bains is British stand-up comedian that recently relocated to the UK from Dubai. She was a semi-finalist in the 2023 UK Funny Women Awards and highlighted as one to watch for the future. A headline act in the UAE, she has performed across the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iraq. In 2024, she took her debut solo show Dubai Dilemma to the Edinburgh Fringe and returned in 2025 with a new hour called Great Wife Material, which received a four-star review. She has been described as refreshingly different.

Liz has opened in Dubai for international touring comedians including Schalk Bezuidenhout, Jason Manford and Janine Harouni.

Callum Straford

Callum Straford is a clown and musical comedian from Australia, having just recently moved to London. A graduate of the Philippe Gaulier clown school, this silly ginger has performed in Edinburgh, Paris, Melbourne, Sydney, New York, Austin and LA. One audience member described him as "the lovechild of Flight of the Conchords and Mr Bean".

Mark Moloney

Mark Moloney is not one of life’s winners. He dwells on the many injustices he has suffered and the constant misfortune he has faced. While his social judgements are at best poor, and at worst, unacceptable, Mark has navigated his life with constant uncertainty. Somehow, he is still going. He brings a deadpan, low-energy and surreal approach to an evening.

Mark was shortlisted for BBC New Comedy Awards 2025 and reached the 2024 Leicester Square New Comedian final.

Nadine Bailey

Leonardo Da Vinci, the Renaissance’s greatest mind, lands in the twenty first century, only to realise he's still the greatest mind. What have we been doing the last 500 years? Mama mia.
