About

Uncover Music presents

Lycio

Off the back of a BBC Airwaves Festival performance alongside artists such as Griff and Rag 'n' Bone Man, UK electronic-hybrid trio Lycio return with a special two-set show. The first set will dive into past material, while the second set unveils something truly unique: a completely new, unreleased and unheard 10-track album performed in full: 10 new songs for 10 years.

Plus, after the live performance, Genny and the band will keep the night going with a DJ set until close!

Since forming on the day of the notorious UK referendum vote, Lycio have built a reputation as a flawless and prolific live act. The three-piece have racked up countless iconic performances as an independent band, playing slots and festivals seemingly unreachable to artists of their beginnings. Lycio twice performed at Chris Evans' CarFest (BBC Children in Need) and Alex James' Big Feastival (BBC Introducing), have featured at The Great Escape Festival, and have supported national heavyweight icons such as Rae Morris, YONAKA, Self Esteem and fellow DIY-ers Low Island. It's little wonder Lycio were named BBC Introducing Artist of the Week for BBC Hereford & Worcester in 2020.

With a focus on championing females in music, Lycio take an egalitarian approach to their writing, allowing for an exciting, collaborative and democratic creative process. Vocalist and lyricist Genie Mendez, keyboardist Charlie Kellie and drummer Alex Lowe are each multi-instrumentalists, resulting in performances that are held completely live with no backing tracks or playback. Frequently the songs revolve around Mendez's expressions of her own mental health, and Kellie even designed his own software specifically to perform live.
