About

TONY VILLIERS AND THE VILLAINS
THE BELFAST BARGE, APRIL 4TH 2026

“Dylan and The Band in The Big Pink basement after a couple of bottles of red" R2 Magazine

“...frantic, dirty blues sounds of the 60’s Reeperbahn. Other more tender moments drip with an ‘Astral Weeks’ like sweet cherry wine” Folk & Tumble

With a blues-fuelled timeless American-country-folk sound akin to Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan on a trip with Lou Reed, this unique group are sure to thrill with their original songs and original sound. Fronted by singer songwriter Tony Villiers, the band bring all their influences together to create something powerful in both sound and lyric.

With the swinging beat of Aidan McGillion’s drums backed by the rolling groove of Damien Sheils on bass, Doc Doherty lays down his glorious guitar sounds. The recent addition of ace mandolin player Sárán O Machail creates a soundscape unique to this band. Tony Villiers heads up the line up on vocals, guitar and harmonica.

Regulars at The Guinness Blues Café and their spiritual home at The American Bar will know this band. Make sure and check out their folk-blues-country-tinged sound!
