It's a long overdue return to the East for The Night Institute.
Between six years of our Eastside Electronics open-air parties at C.S. Lewis Square and our Hack Club residency, East Belfast has held a special place in the TNI story. This May Bank Holiday we are back over this side of the city with a new venue and a special guest - David Holmes.
Holmes needs little introduction. A Belfast institution in his own right, he's been shaping how the world hears music for over three decades - from co-founding the legendary Sugar Sweet club nights that helped ignite Belfast's dance scene, to his already seminal Gods Waiting Room parties.
Between that he's been scoring the Ocean's trilogy, Killing Eve and Steve McQueen's Hunger. In 2024 he produced Primal Scream's acclaimed album Come Ahead, and this year saw the release of his score for Steven Soderbergh's Black Bag. A BAFTA and Ivor Novello winner, a world-class producer, and in-demand DJ, David Holmes remains as vital as ever.
Those of you who were at our sold-out party with David at Dockers Club last year will know that David, TNI and a venue filled with character (and characters) is truly special.
For this party, we're taking over Shorts Recreational Club on Holywood Road - exactly the kind of venue that makes The Night Institute crowd tick. We've always had a mutual love for social clubs, working men's clubs and underused spaces with character. The kinds of rooms where the carpet's a bit worn, the drinks are still cheap, and theres decades of stories in the walls. From masonic halls to bowling clubs, distilleries to timeless social clubs, these are the spaces where TNI feels most at home, and Shorts is a proper East Belfast gem.
David will be supported by an extended set from Night Institute residents Timmy Stewart and Jordan Nocturne. Expect them to set the tone and then some.
Big soundsystem, bespoke visuals and guaranteed atmosphere.
Bank Holiday Saturday. No work on Monday. Pints for under a fiver. Let's fucking go!
