Hi Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to speak to ?Whats on MCR?.

1) What made Venus want to bring in its new 7:00am policy and will this only apply to the Saturday?
Hi guys, yes we have recently completed a survey to our regulars as we like to get a feel for what people want from us and our club. We have seen a trend in Manchester and a lot people are coming out later and we are just catering for their needs. We have asked the question would people benefit from a 7am close and a 6.30am bar and they have said yes. We will be hosting an ?after-hours? in The Snug (aka Room 2) from 4am-7am every Saturday.

2) People often say ?Out with the Old in with the New?, meaning letting go of your past. As Venus has had such a successful past, is this the reason for bringing your old style back under the new phrase ?Out with the New in with the Old??
Yes it?s a little play on words just explaining to people we understand what they want from Venus. Since 2013 we have tried some new events and the newer styles of house but it seems our crowd has loved Venus for its vocal funky house music. At the end of the day I?ve had Venus for 17 years and it?s what has made the club so special. We catered for the current market, but my true love is for uplifting vocal house with a superb beat laced with live sax, piano riffs and people absolutely loving their night out. I?ve noticed some of the newer music makes people stand in one position and nod their heads?.NOT what Venus is about.

3) Do you have any upcoming Venus parties we can look forward to?
I?ll be honest, every Saturday. We have made the decision to bring Jon Fitz back onboard which shows the older lot exactly what we are doing with Venus. Jon is one half of Herd and Fitz who had the chart topping track ?I just can?t get enough? and Jon was the bass player from the absolutely immense Bodyrockers. I?m really looking forward to seeing what Jon and all the guys have planned for the reminder of the year?.it will be New Year before we know it.

4) If our readers have not yet visited Venus, in your own words, can you explain why it?s such an iconic club in Manchester?
In short, I strive to fill the club with like minded people who are only out to have a good time. Good music has always been my passion and I really love seeing people enjoy themselves when a certain track drops they all know and love.

5) Are you not worried that taking Venus back to the older days might push away the newer clubbers, or do you want to educate them into the original Venus style?
Clubbers are clubbers, if you want a massive venue filled with all types of people listening to all the ?new tracks? then there?s plenty of choice in Manchester. If you are after good vocal house music and a club filled with like minded great people then YES I do want to educate some of the newer crowd. Venus has always been about a few key factors; great music, fantastic customers, superb DJs and most importantly a safe environment for them all to enjoy. My goal has always been for girls to enjoy themselves without feeling intimidated and the guys to feel comfortable and really enjoy the music.

6) If you could recommend one song for all our readers to listen to, what would that be?
I have always loved James Brown and Prince, they?re a big inspiration. Now here?s one of my favourite tunes of all time?. K Klass ? Let Me Show You? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Lt6KrLagT0
