International Women's Day is the perfect excuse to shout out some of the best new female-fronted bands. Below, we've picked out some of the best up-and-coming names who are set to enjoy a great 2025. We have the whole spectrum of rock music here, leaning from the heavier side with ALT BLK ERA to the softer tones of Esme Emerson. Take a look to find your new favourite band.
Sunday (1994)
There's a sense of nostalgia that permeates throughout the music of Sunday (1994), as if the music is being played through a feature. Singer Paige Turner has an elegance to her delivery akin to Lana Del Rey and with so many timeless qualities, it only bodes well for their future.
ALT BLK ERA
ALT BLK ERA have already scaled significant heights, having won the MOBO for Best Alternative Act. In January, they released their debut album Rave immortal, which is the perfect introduction to their electrifying brand of rock music that never ceases in its intensity.

Esme Emerson
Esme Emerson are a sibling duo who make deeply imaginative pop music. With a sweetness that is hard to resist, their bond is explored in their songs as well as maturing and seeing relationships fade away. They take you back to the care-free bliss of youth.
Folk B**** Trio
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, the trio link up for some absolutely gorgeous harmonies. The most impressive aspect about them is the amount of personality they manage to pack into their songs, which is a testament to the friendship between them. These melodies are hard to resist.
Hotwax
If you want some heavy riffs, then rockers HotWax have you covered in spades. With a debut album out now called Hot Shock, you can dive fully into their creative vision which never seems to relent and takes you on a crazy, unpredictable journey.

Man/Woman/Chainsaw
Man/Woman/Chainsaw come from the Black Country, New Road style of bands, full of awkward melodies and classical instrumentation alongside rock. Best described as experimental, it's hard to predict where any given song is going to go next.
Rocket
Bringing indie rock excellence over from the US, Rocket's sound is imbued with the sounds most closely associated with the 90s. Not afraid to add a bit of fuzz to their sound, the Los Angeles band have an EP titled Versions of You that any new lsteners need to check out.
TTSSFU
It looks like 2025 is going to be a great year for TTSSFU, who is playing Brighton's The Great Escape, a key music showcase for the best new artists. The Manchester artist treads the line between atmospheric shoegaze and indie pop.

Lambrini Girls
There was so much discussion surrounding Lambrini Girls after they released their debut album Who Let The Dogs Out in January. A punk album that rallies against misogyny and various other social ills, it has a long, hard scream in your face and demands that you listen. They have a growing reputation as one of the UK's best live acts to see too.

Cliffords
Hailing from Cork, Cliffords are proof that there's an endless amount of talent coming out of Ireland at the moment. With an indie rock sound that features cathartic chorus', this band knows how to hook you in. With two EP's under their belts, there's so much more to come from them.
