Skiddle's Future Headliners: The Last Dinner Party

Over the course of the summer and in the middle of festival season, we like to take a look at some of the names who we think will one day be taking to the stage as the big names at some of the best festivals. Our future headliners are an eclectic bunch and this week we're focussing on a very early bet. 

The Last Dinner Party may have only released a couple of singles but they hype around them is palpable already. The band have recently been accused of being 'industry plants', with a social media debate raging about how the band could seemingly pop up out of nowhere and generate hype so quickly. 

The fact is that The Last Dinner Party have no industry ties, they aren't nepo babies and have essentially been in the right places at the right time. They've spent over a year working on their craft whilst being picked up by a top-tier management agency. The same furor has been reserved for male artists in the male scene such as Inhaler who actually are nepo babies given the fact that the lead singer's dad is Bono.

Anyway, aside from the online debate The Last Dinner Party's early musical output is what makes us think that there's a whole lot more to come from them. Their debut single 'Nothing Matters' was a resounding success, introducing us to the band's Victorian-esque aesthetic style.

It is our first introduction to the booming and completely head-turning vocals of Abigail Morris who sings the memorable, NSFW chorus in a way which will have it looped in your head for days to come. Their gigs to date have been in small venues and they have been packed to the brim with fervent responses even though they have little music actually released.

Their second single 'Sinner', a song about self-acceptance which showed that the band will definitely not be one-hit wonders. The Last Dinner Party have some serious momentum behind them now and are building a reputation as a fantastic live band that you can miss in your local indie venue. We expect even bigger things for them in the future even though they're only at the start of their journey.
