A new national report from the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) finds audiences growing and regional scenes surging amid an increasingly fragile club sector. You can read the full Fourth Electronic Music Report from NTIA here.
The report finds that the UK electronic music generated over £2 billion in measurable economic activity in 2025, up 3% year-on-year, despite the loss of more than one in three nightclubs since 2020.

The UK continues to punch above its weight internationally, ranking second in the world for electronic music artist development, however the report warns that this success masks the growing infrastructure issues, such as the accelerating collapse of mid-tier venues. 15% of UK venues now fall within the critical 500–2,500 capacity range, which creates bottlenecks for emerging artists attempting to progress beyond grassroots level.
Electronic music audiences are also seen to be shifting away from venues, as free parties and activity in alternative and informal spaces grow. Additionally, a majority of activity (51%) of UK electronic music events now take place outside London, with Newcastle in particular recording 72% year-on-year growth.
NTIA’s CEO, Michael Kill, said of the report: “Electronic music remains one of the UK’s most powerful cultural and economic assets, but the domestic ecosystem that sustains it is now in crisis… At the same time, the North is leading growth and innovation, proving that opportunity exists if infrastructure is protected.”
Skiddle are once again pairing with NTIA for the Night Time Economy Summit 2026, which is underway at Liverpool’s Blackstock Market.
