After nearly three decades of supplying music fans with vinyl records of house, reggae, soul, jazz, and more, North London's Zen Records has announced its closure.

In an Instagram post, it was announced that the Tottenham shop's owner Robert Douglas will be stepping back and closing the shop later this year "due to health reasons". The post, signed by Douglas' family, says Zen Records will live on through Discogs, where Douglas will "continue to share rare gems from his incredible collection."

Before the shop closes, they've announced there will be three live-streaming DJ sessions performed live from the shop floor "in tribute to the community Zen has created". The first event happened on Saturday 5th July, with two mores from 1pm on Saturday 9th August and Saturday 6th September, streaming via Zen Records' Mixcloud. On the dates of the livestreams, the shop will also be holding a 10% discount off all selected vinyl from 1pm until 5pm.

The family also called on the shop's fans to take advantage of the upcoming sales, saying, "For all the vinyl lovers out there: this is your chance. All stock must go – and what a collection it is. Eclectic, electric and deeply curated by someone who's lived and breathed music for most of his life."

Zen Records is known to stock many genres including reggae, ska, soul, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, rare groove, garage, and house. Head over to 69 Broad Lane (N15 4DJ) to check out what they've got in stock.
