Liverpool promoters Freeze chalk off another milestone in their history on August Bank Holiday Weekend when they will be collaborating with the city’s council as part of the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF), the successor to the iconic Matthew Street Festival. It follows on from their earlier announcement of bringing Tensnake to Liverpool alongside Waxxx at Haus Warehouse to round off a spectacular finale for the summer for the promoters, who have already collaborated with Zoo Project, records labels Bedrock and Kompakt and Luciano this year

This alliance sees them once again take over St Georges Hall with a headline turn from legendary ‘Madchester’ band The Charlatans. The group, led by one of music’s most charismatic frontmen in Tim Burgess, are rightly heralded the defining link between the baggy era of Manchester and the Britpop renaissance that followed. They first came to prominence with indie dance classic ‘The only one I know’ in 1990, and have since topped the UK Album charts with 3 of their 11 studio releases, and getting four top ten singles along the way.

Still hugely relevant, they’ve just headlined Kendal Calling, sold out a solo showcase at Delamere Forest and remain one of the most alluring live acts on the circuit with a devastating catalogue that spans over twenty years at the pinnacle of the UK music industry.

Joining them for a celebration of the North West’s musical past and present will be pioneering DJ Greg Wilson, the first to ever perform a DJ mix live on UK Television back in 1983. Also supporting are local legends in the making The Tea Street Band, whose fusion of dance with the swagger of classic rock has drawn parallels with the Stone Roses (and of course, the Charlatans), alongside Wirral reared purveyors of joy By the Sea and Ellesmere Port’s finest The Fallows.

The concert room of the venue will also be utilised at the event as a chance to focus on up and coming music, with local promoters Cooking Soup invited to showcase a wide variety of live music. There will be performances from Deadbeat Echoes, Regency, The Bibelots Psyence, Welcome Pariah, Violet Class, Wilson Minds and Barnie Soanes.
