The organisers of Indian Summer have come clean and announced their full-line up.

In the past week cult US act Yo La Tengo, SXSW buzz band Tapes n Tapes and acclaimed singer songwriter Ben Kweller have been added to the bill and today a band who have just celebrated thirty years in the music industry, The Fall, best known for enigmatic front man Mark E Smith, have been confirmed as playing the main stage. Also completing the line-up (overleaf) is Scot’s indie act Camera Obscura, who alongside 1990’s will be flying the flag for Scotland on the main stage, which reads like a review of critically acclaimed acts, both emerging and established.

Earlier this week two of Indian Summer’s acts Guillemots and Hot Chip were nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, and will in fact be playing their last live date before the winner is announced at Indian Summer. They’ll be playing alongside last year’s surprise winner Antony And The Johnsons.

Since Indian Summer was first announced in May they have attracted attention from the BBC, with digital station 6Music and BBC Radio Scotland both broadcasting live from Victoria Park over the Indian Summer weekender.

Commenting on the inaugural event Scott Taylor, Chief Executive - Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, commented: "Indian Summer dovetails perfectly with the Glasgow: Scotland with style campaign and we're delighted that the city has been chosen to host this boutique music event."

It is in fact the first boutique weekender for Scotland, where special touches such as sushi, smoothie and other healthy food stalls, lawn bowls and croquet, cocktails to drink on picnic benches, and fairy lights around the tree-lined main arena, complement the line-up, which includes cult acts and this years (and next hopefully) critically acclaimed newcomers..

Francis Dunnery from organisers PCL commented on why now and why Glasgow: "I’ve wanted to put on an event like this for ages, an event that allows us to be more experimental due to it’s intimate size. I love the idea of relaxing playing bowls while listening to The Fall, and eating a picnic while people from the Fat Tuesday Tent dance to Optimo (Espacio) drinking cocktails. Glasgow’s always had that really great music vibe that other cities envy, so it’s great to combine the sounds of the US and UK underground in a city that loves and influences this type of music."

Who’s behind it?

PCL are the company who first brought The Strokes, The White Stripes and The Flaming Lips to Scotland, and were the first official promoters for Franz Ferdinand, so to sum them up – they are the people who have introduced Scotland to many of the Scots most loved bands. Plainly speaking, the event is the way it is; music policy, size and the magical and relaxed feel, for the simple reason that they are creating a weekend they themselves would pay to go to. Hence featuring well loved and established off-centre acts alongside new names coming up through the ranks.
