MOLO is the brainchild of French-Portuguese, Photomatic and North American, Super class. The Duo formed through their shear admiration for each other’s separate endeavor’s, fate being the cliché but cannot be any further from the truth.
Both stories begin outside of the UK , Marc David aka Photomatic was a dedicated Classically trained musician from a tender age. His piano skills and passion directed him to the likes of composers like Bach, Debussy, Schumann, Mozart, Britten, Chopin and Beethoven. Having grown up around his parents Jazz collection, it was only a matter of time before he would navigate his way and draw inspiration form key Jazz musicians such as Michel Camilo, Michel Petrucciani and Chick Corea.
Finally making the move to London in 2006, armed with a fresh approach to music and a strong determination, he knew he wanted to establish himself as a duo experimenting with electronic music and drawing firther inspiration from the likes of Tricky, Massive Attack, Nitin Sawhney, Lamb, Zero7 and eventually Daft Punk.
Sylvester Meighan aka Super Class began this passion for music hooked by the early 90’s Drum & Bass scene listening to Goldie, Dillinja, Lemon D and Roni Size, being a real music connoisseur Super Class made the natural progression through music selection and eventually moved to London drawing influence from the likes of Flylo, Tokimonsta, basically all things Brainfeeder, Squarepusher, rising producers coming through the fruitful Bass movement such as Bodhi, Glitch, Shigeto, Mono/poly, Boombaptist and the Mexicains with Guns
Together they create an exciting melting pot of organic beats and classically influenced melodic experimentations, often featuring and encapsulating the haunting vocals Catarina Moreno.
With their debut EP forthcoming on GROUND Records and a string of collaborations in the pipeline MOLO are continually working hard in the studio to deliver what will be a promising year for the duo.
