The Selective Collective began as the Burst Water Main Boys in 2014 when the Mustangs' Adam Norsworthy had to put a scratch band together at the last minute at the 2014 Cambridge Rock Festival. The resulting jam (which included Laurence Jones and Sue Merchant) is still talked about today!

The band resurfaced in 2016 under similar circumstances, but with a different collection of players, and again delivered a hugely enjoyable off-the-cuff, unrehearsed set of blues and rock. By 2017 the CRF decided to just schedule them in anyway... and ever since the Collective has had an ever-changing line up of the CRF good and great. Always curated by Adam, he keeps the fun on stage ticking over and makes sure the crowd - and the band! - can always expect the unexpected!
