SNO (Selina Nongaliphe Oliphant), South African born and Manchester based

Her understanding of music as a whole was developed and harnessed in the dusty streets of a township called Bophelong, South Africa in the apartheid era where music provided strength and hope to the marginalised. Since her set at the world renown establishment that is Soup Kitchen in Manchester 2015, where she is currently based, she has since performed in festivals like Dimensions Festival, Houghton Festival, Beathearder, Meet Me There Weekender in Ghana, Meadows in the Mountains, Africa Oye in Liverpool and clubs across Europe ( Russia and mostly in England) and South Africa.

SNO has shared stage with luminaries such as Tama Sumo & Lakuti, Sassy J, Carista, Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Jeremy Underground, DJ Okapi, Esa, Kuniyuki Takahashi. African artists including the maverick Tony Allen, Ata Kak, Amadou & Mariam and the Brazilian jazz funk trio, Azymuth. SNO currently holds a residency in Manchester under the Banana Hill banner on a monthly basis and a NTS show.
