Biography

Sam Lambeth may not be a well-known name, but if you're familiar with him, you'll know by now the songs he produces - bittersweet sojourns that balance wistful melodies with sweetly reflective lyrics.

In his newest outfit, Quinn, Lambeth continues to hone his style in a rawer, lo-fi environment, taking influence from his usual peers (think the sun-drenched ditties of The Lemonheads, Teenage Fanclub and Dinosaur Jr.) and adding a harder, reverb-addled approach, from bands such as DIIV, Kid Wave and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

'Seems Fine', the band's debut EP, contains a five-minute art-rock instrumental ('They Said You Were Dead On Buzzfeed'), country-tinged ruminations ('Stewart's House') and '90s-indebted, fizzy grunge ('Jessica'). It also contains two of Lambeth's strongest tracks to date, in the form of the frenetic indie pop of 'Sixteen Vandals' and the stately, hazy motifs of 'All the Lazy Hipsters'.

The band's unique blend of fizzy, high-tuned rock, aided and abetted by sterling harmonies, soaring melodies and jangly arpeggios, gives them a winning edge.
