Long Earth are a Scottish progressive rock group formed in Glasgow in
2016
They released three well-received albums: The Source (2017) , Once
Around the Sun (2020), and An Ordinary Life (2024) and played many
shows and festivals around the UK, after which the band returned to the
rehearsal room to complete their fourth studio album, Towards the Sky,
released in June 2026 via Bakeneko.
Renowned for their blend of symphonic keyboards, evocative guitars,
and intricate compositions, Long Earth continues to evolve its sound by
adding ethereal female vocals and a revamped rhythm section that
brings fresh energy and depth to the music. The result is a powerful
collection of melodic progressive rock epics inspired by astronomy,
space exploration, and humanity’s eternal drive to push beyond its limits.
The new lineup —featuring the arrival of vocalist Maaike Siegerist and
drummer Kenny McCabe alongside guitarist Renaldo McKim, bassist
David McLachlan, and founder Mike Baxter—has ushered in an exciting
new chapter for the band.
REVIEWS OF TOWARDS THE SKY
“This is a very credible band, which blends rock, pop, prog, Neo-prog,
and jazz inspirations into a carefully crafted work of art …I’m Hooked.
Nothing else needs be said!” 9/10

“Long Earth hail from Scotland, and their fourth (and easily finest) album,
Towards the Sky has been wowing the progressive world. …Very highly
recommended.”
– Peter Lazenby, Lazland
“The album is melodic, accessible and highly enjoyable without ever
becoming predictable or superficial. The songs are allowed to breathe,
developing organically and continually rewarding attentive listening with
interesting ideas and unexpected details.
With Towards the Sky, Long Earth may well have created their most
complete and cohesive work to date.
It is an album filled with atmosphere, humanity and musical discoveries”
