Reviews and comments about Luther King House
Whitefox | Review of Luther King House Overall rating: ![]() Initial impression good. Booked 2 nights. Bedsheet not changed, evidence of previous occupants, found 4 blond hair. Also found something normally found in hospital-large yellow wet patch (urine) on double bed. Mattress soaking wet, duvet wet. Asked for room change but none available as fully booked. Double bed taken out of room replaced with single mattress with clean sheets. The other single bed in room also has evidence of previous occupant. No duvet slept with blanket. Second night change of room. Bedsheets threadbare but clean. Wanted to change hotel but rooms fully booked due to students and families arriving for new semester at universities. We were busy settling nephew who has just arrived from Malaysia to study at MMU. Hotel refunded 1st night stay. Garden beautiful and quiet but all we can remember is the state and cleanliness of room on 1st night.

HF | Review of Luther King House Overall rating: ![]() We wanted to have a look at Manchester as our daughter is considering applying to the university. Luther King house was great for that purpose as we were able to walk (via the Curry Mile) to the Uni and then it was only a short bus ride (or walk, if we felt like it) to the city centre. The atmosphere at LK house was relaxed and staff at reception were friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that the double my husband and I shared was a little cramped (one bedside up against the wall) and dark. On the other hand, our daughters' twin room was light and spacious. Breakfast was a choice of cereals, fruit, cheese, ham and boiled eggs. Overall, great value for money.

Me and a friend needed digs for a concert at Platts field which was literally across the road. The hotel check-in wasn't good because the computers were down and it took 4 hours to sort. Luckily there is a nice garden area, large lcd tv in a lounge type area and open bar selling beers at reasonable prices for a hotel so we watched the opening of the world cup. A complimentary drink for the 4 hour wait would have been a nice touch but sadly that didn't happen. A backup plan for computers failing would also be a good idea, because normally a four hour wait isn't acceptable. The atmosphere of the place is relaxing and very comfortable, we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are basic and very clean and acceptable ideal for what we needed. My only complaint was no shower, you only get a bath which would be a major issue for me if staying for more than one night but I wasn't so no problem. Staff and people around the place were all really nice and polite, made you feel at home. The place is a Theological retreat which added to its charm and made it feel very relaxed. Added bonus, curry mile is literally two minutes walk away, great food. Finally, the hotel grounds are really peaceful and tranquil, I would recommend staying here to anyone.
