News Editor
Primary Ticketing Outlet, Skiddle.com are looking for an editor to join our vibrant team. You will be responsible for managing our busy editorial section and other content across the site, with the ultimate aim of creating engaging content to support our core business.
This is a full time role working from our offices in Preston, Lancashire where you will be working alongside a team of account managers to ensure the content on the site is relevant to the commercial success of Skiddle.com
Essential
- At least two years' editorial experience, preferably in an online setting
- A first degree in English, Journalism or other relevant subject area
- Excellent copywriting/journalism skills and impeccable spelling and grammar
- A good knowledge of and interest in contemporary music, especially dance music
- A knowledge of the UK club and events scene
- Experience of website management using content management software
- Experience of managing the social media presence for an organisation
- Experience (or an understanding) of SEO principles
- A proactive attitude
- Highly motivated and organised, with the ability to juggle several tasks at once
- The ability to work well with colleagues at all levels
- Commercial awareness
Desirable
- Good industry contacts
- NCTJ qualified
- Experience of Google analytics and SEO
- An understanding of content marketing
- A willingness to work outside of the normal 9-5
Duties
- Managing Skiddle.com's busy editorial section of music, events, hotel and restaurant news
- Writing and commissioning features, previews and news stories to aid the promotion of events
- Editing and proofreading all editorial content
- Image sourcing
- Uploading and managing content and images using a CMS
- Working closely with account managers and other colleagues to ensure that all events have full editorial coverage
- Arranging press accreditation for festivals and other events
- Managing an editorial budget and a team of freelance contributors
- Being responsible for Skiddle's social media presence
- Recruiting new contributors where necessary
- Seeking out and spotting new opportunities for driving traffic to the site
Salary Dependent on Experience, starting from £16k
