Creamfields is undeniably one of the world's biggest, most impressive music festivals. History of Creamfields
1998
The first Creamfields festival is staged in Winchester in Southern England attracting 25,000 people and featuring live performances from Run DMC, Primal Scream and DJ sets from over 100 DJs including the likes of Daft Punk, Paul van Dyk and Sasha.
1999
Creamfields decamps to its spiritual home of Liverpool in the North of England. The 'Old Liverpool Airfield' becomes its new home and over 50,000 people flock to the festival to see performances from the likes of Basement Jaxx and Pet Shop Boys.
2000
Creamfields introduces the Live Outdoor Stage and attracts a record breaking crowd of 50,000 people. Muzik Magazine vote Creamfields as 'Event Of The Year' in their annual Awards ceremony and The Guardian vote Creamfields as 'Best Event'.
2002
Underworld & Faithless headline the Live Outdoor stage at Creamfields UK.
2004
Creamfields UK is voted 'Best Dance Festival' in the UK Festival Awards.
2005
Creamfields UK is voted as 'Best Dance Festival' in the UK Festival Awards for the 2nd year running and voted 'Festival Event Of The Year' in the House Music Awards.
2006
Creamfields UK moves from the Old Liverpool Airfield in Liverpool to its current home of Daresbury, Halton, located deep in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, the move is a great success and attracts a more diverse crowd who travel from all corners of the UK and abroad.
2007
The Chemical Brothers headline and deliver an outstanding live performance. The event attracts a record number of international visitors. The festival capacity is increased to 49,999.
2008
Creamfields UK celebrates its 10th Anniversary, to mark the occasion the festival becomes a 2 day format and includes camping for the first time. The fresh, diverse line up raises the benchmark for electronic music festivals and features performances from the likes of Kasabian, Tiesto, Ian Brown, Fatboy Slim and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers.
2009
Creamfields sells out for the first time in its history attracting 60,000 people across the weekend. Creamfields wins the award for 'Best Dance Event' in the UK Festival Awards and is Voted 'Tourism Event Of The Year' by VisitLiverpool.
2010
The capacity is increased to 40,000 each day and the site expands to accommodate the demand for campers. For the 2nd year running Creamfields attracts record breaking numbers and sells out a month in advance. To top off its best year in the festivals history, Creamfields wins the award for 'Best Dance Event' in the UK Festival Awards for the 2nd year running and is also voted 'Festival Of The Year' in the highly coveted industry Music Week Awards, beating the likes of Glastonbury, V and IOW Festival.
2011
The capacity is increased to 50,000 each day, and the festival goes on to be another sell out.
2012
Creamfields 2012 was on course to be the best one yet, with Friday and Saturday nights events going off like the proverbial with some outstanding performances from the likes of deadmau5, Avicii, David Guetta and The Chemical Brothers to name a few. However, the good times were cut short when adverse weather resulted in the unfortunate cancellation of the final day of the festival for the first time in it's history. Following this, in 2013, Creamfields have announced they will be spending ?500,000 on major site improvements with a revised contingency plan in place in the event of wet weather.
