Built in 1903, the pub has it's name and year of build, on an outer wall, in 2 mosaics comprised of glass tiles from local glass manufacturer Pilkingtons. There is also a mosaic tiled entrance floor which is currently covered and needs a little restoration.

An award winning community local(St.Helens CAMRA Awards:- 2010 Most Improved Pub, 2011 Pub Of The Year, 2012 Community Pub Of The Year, 2013 Cider Pub Of The Year & runner up Pub Of The Year), It has had four consecutive years in GBG(2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). It offers up to six beers including at least one regular from local brewery George Wrights and other microbreweries. Up to 3 Real Ciders available too.

The bar is home to traditional pub games(Pool, Darts and Dominoes), one television and a fruit machine and a quiz games Machine. The lounge is spacious, comfortable and home to one television and one big screen projector. All live sports are shown.

There is a Quiz on Tuesday night, Karaoke on Friday night and Live Bands on Saturday night. There is a heated and covered smoking area and a reasonably sized outdoor drinking garden. On street free parking available(on Bold Street and Liverpool Street to the side of the building spaces are limited) for a maximum stay of 2 hours.

A CAMRA discount of 10p per pint has been in operation since 2011. Free WiFi available (password on request). Available for Birthday parties, Christenings and Funerals, Etc

Music Policy: Brilliant Live Music, Known For its Irish Music on Saturdays; 2014 sees a deviation from the norm with some fantastic bands coming up.

Ambiance: Friendly, Welcoming; and a good Laugh. Bouncing when theres live music on.
