Ministry Of Sound venue information

Having been at the forefront of global clubbing for two decades, Ministry of Sound London is more than just a nightclub. It's an iconic brand, a way of life and a symbol of quality, credibility and hedonism for clubbers the world over.

Since opening its doors back in 1991, Ministry of Sound's flagship London nightclub has risen to be the most famous and recognisable club in the world - and a leading light on the global club scene with its consistently strong weekly line-ups of international DJs.

As London's first club devoted to the US House music scenes of New York, Chicago and Detroit, Ministry of Sound was the brainchild of DJ Justin Berkmann and was inspired by New York's Paradise Garage. Justin stated: "My concept for Ministry was purely this: 100% sound system first, lights second, design third (in that order); the reverse of everyone else's idea."

Starting life as an alcohol free nightclub in a former bus depot in South London in 1991, Ministry of Sound has grown to encompass not just the world's most famous club, but the world's largest record label and a multimedia entertainment business.

Today The Ministry of Sound remains at the absolute forefront of the global dance scene, with Friday nights playing host to regular night The Gallery, and Saturday nights seeing MoS's long standing Saturday Sessions welcome international DJs such as Sasha, Tiesto, Pete Tong and David Guetta to the decks each week.

The club comprises five main areas; the Bar, the Baby Box, the VIP and the Loft and the Box, the latter housing the club’s primary sound-system, with a specially-built roof to contain sound and a sprung floor intended to enable clubbers to dance for many hours without tiring.

2011 saw the club celebrate its 20th birthday with a massive programme of events that celebrated the club's past, present and future. Here's to the next 20!
