Another brilliant year at the Wickerman. This was the first time I'd taken my 4 year old daughter, so camped in the family area this year, which was perfect, everyone was really friendly and respectful of each other. The only slight negatives were
1. The family camping area was extremely busy, we managed to get a decent pitch, but noticed loads of tents that had to pitch on steep slopes, or were virtually on roads / paths. Given the popularity of the event for families it may be worth considering increasing or moving the family area for future festivals.
2. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were informed that the red car park (for family camping) was full, so was directed to an area of the green car park which was a good 10 minutes walk away from the camping - not great with a four year old in tow.
3. We also bought the Deep Down N Dirty passes for the posh loos, which was a total waste of money, as they were too far away from where we were camped to be of any use to my daughter, and when we did make the effort to use them the queue was massive. In fact it seemed there were less toilets in general compared to other years, especially in the main festival area.

Good atmosphere. Music on Friday not great but improved on Saturday. Glad family camping back to a sensible place (unlike 2014). Down n Dirty loos (Ladies) initially limited and had no water intermittently. Good that re-cycling had been introduced for first time and that you could buy parking passes in advance. Good that food and other non food stalls were scattered over the site. Limited dish washing facilities and not all sinks had drain hooked up so created an almighty mud bath and stench. Must remember to have kids in vehicles otherwise you will not get family parking, the cause of some heated discussions. Last but not least, can you do something about the weather for next year.

I love the Wickerman, it's my 4th time of being there. It never fails to make me feel happy. Missed the reggae tent this year though.

Enjoyable as usual. Made even better by the rain staying away.

After a lot of thought and a lot of conversations with other people at the festival this year I have to say I am sadly disappointed with The Wickerman 2015.
The acts this year were very poorly chosen and also badly placed in the running order.
The new layout of the site was also not very well thought out. To start with the £5.00 parking charge smells of profiteering, the location of the site means that people have to get there. Free buses and car sharing is great but people arrive and leave at all times throughout the weekend, many using cars to head into Kirkcudbright for shopping, work commitments etc. just hide it in the price of the ticket don't advertise the fact you want more money from people buy charging them for something else. The entry / exit to the main car park was a bit of a farce as well, there was always one way in following the track up the hill and enter from the top. The exit was always at the bottom near the exit gate onto the main road. This year you had 2 way traffic on the track causing vehicles to use part of the grass field to drive down the hill thus causing damage to the field.
The mix of food stalls and shops was an interesting change, I think this worked very well.
Having the Solus XFM stage as close to the Scooter Tent was not good at all, there was constant noise pollution from one to the other which distracted from the act you were trying to listen to.
The Scooter tent has always been a Ska and Punk venue which over the last couple of years seems to have been forgotten as more rap, jazz, electronic acts have been put into the mix there. I noticed as well this year that it was at it's busiest in the afternoons with the bigger and more famous acts being on earlier i.e. TV Smith, The Ramonas, Dr John Cooper Clarke. all far to early in the set.
The main stage has had a theme of Scottish acts for the Friday which is great and this has worked well over the years. Unfortunately this year your big act for pulling in the punters was Lulu, not my thing but a great crowd puller, so should she not have been headlining instead of the Waterboys? You had a huge crowd for her, they stayed for Squeeze then left in droves as the Headliners got started. This is the first time I have ever seen as many people leave before the last act had had a chance to play their big hit.
The Saturday night you had a man running back and forward shouting at the crowd while someone played little bits of other peoples songs on a set of decks, how much did this cost? He may be famous and popular but this was not a fitting headline act for such a great festival before the burning. This was an act for after it. I agree that the crowd were jumping but at that time of night everyone there had paid for their ticket, had had a few drinks and were waiting for the burning, they would have jumped up and down to anything, but please think of your integrity and book a band that are of a reasonable standard and will remain in people memories in a good way, not someone playing records which you could get any Saturday night in any pub or club up and down the country. Stand out for the quality you always gave us.
The ticket price is not too bad but if this is going to be the calibre of the acts from now on people are going to start complaining about what they are paying for.
The overall feel was not a good one with mumblings everywhere about lack of decent acts among the crowd. There really felt like a lot less people there, I know of many myself who didn't go this year or last year. You are losing customers.
The line up announcement is always too late as well. Thing have changed over the years, there are far more festivals now and people don't have the money to do them all. If you want to keep the customers you must announce acts earlier than you do. I overheard a lot of people talking about Kendal Calling and them thinking of that next year instead.
Wickerman please think again.

Beautiful setting with great bands. Very well laid out & friendly staff. £5 charge for concert listings should have been included in ticket price. Was disappointed in number of VIP toilets and showers as a lot of queuing involved & paid a premium for this service, though no complaints about staff or cleanliness....just the queues !

As a first timer and with kids this was a brilliant event, great layout, fab location n a very chilled atmosphere My only problem was with the fairground trying to rip my kids off by charging what ever they felt like..a ride was never the same price throughout the weekend which left my kids upset.

Toilets are the biggest letdown, I have two daughters, both struggled to find any clean ones by Friday, how about, having female only toilets to eliminate males peeing everywhere then the next person cleaning up after these selfish people, maybe a ploy to force people to buy down and dirty tickets.
Down and dirty loos were available however sold out 3 days before the festival, but at £12 each for 4 of us and £12 each for hot showers, £96 on top of the already expensive tickets is not on.
Disappointed with the usual expensive site food/drinks, especially the no alcohol policy, Glastonbury seem to manage ok !
The shows/rides seemed to attract a lot of drunk T in the Park types, a thing I was trying to avoid.
Circus was great, also the workshops after the show.
Kids area was ok, lots of varied tasks and entertaining activities, also the £3 entry fee was going to a very noble cause, well done.
Good mix of acts at various venues within the site, however I still think the tickets are overpriced.

My husband and took our daughter here for her first festival experience. We paid extra for VIP and they were worth every penny. The whole festival and staff working at the festival are worth their weight in gold. Everyone was so friendly. Would highly recommend The Wickerman. Will be booking again for next year as soon as the tickets are on sale.

3rd visit here and still a quality family friendly festival, although the reduction in the kids zone was a little annoying, food prices pretty much as expected with these events, but the quality was superb, as with all festivals some of the music will not be your taste but there's was something for everyone here b
