friday night

Overall rating: 5 Verified review

What a great night! Despite a late start due to heavy showers, I had a fantastic time. The bands were great, the stage & sound excellent. This was comparable to some of the big festivals, but with friendlier audience & staff giving a great vibe. It was awesome to be able to see one of the legends of soul, Steve Cropper at close quarters. I also think the pricing was very reasonable at £16 for the night. I would expect to pay considerably more to see such a world class headline act. Well done organisers!

A good start for Rammy Festival

Great site for a festival, hope they do it again next year! Took a long time to poor the beer and had there been more at the event it would have been a real problem. Kid British the outstanding band of the day and badly Drawn Boy really good when they finally sorted the accoustic out!!
Great day though, well done

Boy to Man

Badly Drawn Boy, was both the highlight and lowlight of my festival experience yesterday.
The badly point first, the sound was appalling, reverb and base on high distorting everything apart from the static noise from the guitars, at first I thought it was the equipment, but after the long setting up session before the Guillemots, their sound was good, I wont mention their performance.
The goodly points from a Badly fan, was his performance if you listened hard you could hear his talent, and as he rightly pointed out himself in an also entertaining outburst he was the most talented act there and should have been headlining which noone can deny, and if the sound was good I would have listened to him in delight for the two and a half hours set he said he could have done, and also if I had been allowed to bring in my folding chair which I had to trek back to the car with, not good for people with disablements being told not in a polite way by the staff.
An extra high point was when Badly Drawn Girl came on to stage, expecting just an ahh moment, I was surprised when hearing a delightfully delicate voice filtering and avoiding the distortion of the sound setup, a definite star of the future.
So my advice Badly is, headline next time, so you come on after a band that has setup the sound system properly, or bribe the tekies to do a good job for you, that said I look forward to hearing that long set you promised us, asap please!

Ramsbottom Festival Friday Night

We can't rate the categories above (although it sounded very good last night) because despite the website saying "door til 22.00 when we turned up at 21.30 we were turned away from the venue! It was Sarah's birthday and we'd been out for a meal and were supposed to meet friends inside but were told it was finishing at 22.00 and we were too late....our friends watched the Animals til 22.20. Poor start for us to the festival :( We thought a weekend pass meant we could come in all weekend at any time.

Wet Again

Overall rating: 4.5 Verified review

Just the way I like it warm and very wet, cant wait to see The Rain Band today, the organisers obviously prepared well for this event and my hat would go off to the grounds keepers if the rain stops long enough!
If anyone knows what type of grass they have please let me know, its amazing.

Rammy Festival

The terrible weather didn't dampen a great night of live music. Rossendale as we know is a hotbed of live music with some great local bands like; 'The Sun Electric Band', 'Crimpolenes', 'Shatner', 'Dreissers Egg' and 'Wasted'. It's no wonder then that the crowds came out despite torrential rain. Great sets by 'Molly Bloom' and 'Mark Radcliffe and the Big Figures' topped off by the Granddad's of Rock, the 'Animals and Friends' featuring the legend that is 'Steve Cropper'. Got to give a massive well done to the organizers, this is one of the best set-up's ever. It's easy to access and leave, the field is massive, despite the rain the field (being a cricket pitch) is so firm that despite the massive rain it wasn't muddy and squelchy at all. Hope the club are not regretting not covering the surface with the continued rain. Can't wait to get back for this afternoon, looking forward to sets from; 'Young Knives', 'Kid British' and of course the 'Guillemots'.
