RAMSBOTTOM FESTIVAL
I did say to my daughter on Saturday afternoon, while we stood in a diagonal rainstorm, that the festival was 'my worst nightmare but with amazing music'. Rather harsh with hindsight, and I know we needed the rain, but I would have appreciated a bit of tweaking for us folks who had travelled a fair distance to attend.
My main niggle was that there was very little to do while the bands were changing over on the main stage, nor could we squeeze into either of the other two performance areas. It would have been great to have a large covered area to watch the bands or just shelter from the rain.
I couldn't fault the bands I saw, and I am now a devoted fan of Otis Gibbs, and I would also like to pass on my utter delight to the ladies and gentleman in the tearoom for their scrummy food at perfect prices. Them carrot cake buns were to die for!
If I had lived locally, I would probably enjoyed it a lot more as a day visitor, but all in all, Rammy was an experience. Thanks to everyone for having us!

Ramsbottom Festival - Sunday
I had a great day. Great music, good venue and beer and food prices were reasonable compared to other events i have attended. I hope you got sufficient numbers to ensure that you have this as a regular event

Who needs Glasto?
Went to Rammy Fest on Saturday.Must thank the organisers for a great first attempt. Highlights for me were Travelling Band,Cherry Ghost & BDB.Rammy Festival Ale was great & only £2.50 a pint. Food pretty good but could we not encourage local cafe's/restaurants to join in? Rammy's quite a foody place these days. Park & Ride very good.Perhaps more lively, singalong festival fare next year.....someone like Bellowhead could make you forget the rain?

sat at rammy fest
very impressed with the venue.had a great day.well done to the organisers.the only downside was badly drawn boy,who was rude not only to the sound men but to practically everyone at the festival with his foul mouth.i think he is a very angry man and needs to realise that although he can sing he is not as big or as good as the guillemots

Good family fun
Went on sunday _ the best weather of the w/end and ony got wet a couple of times. We got there early and set up camp on a bench with frequent visits down to the stage beer tent and facilities:) With 2 children (10 and 3) it was a long (and expensive)) day and we had to leave after Capercaillie For next year I think teh organisers should allow people to bring their own food. I understand the reasoning behind the "No Alcohol " rule though.
Would I /we go again - definitely yes but only if you retain the folky day.

Rammy Sunday
Congrats and well done to all involved!!!
Arrived at 2.30pm to a bit of drizzle but soon got over it as i listened to "The Once". The whole day had a really friendly, folksy feel with the emphasis on Blues, Indy and Irish music. Only went to see The Waterboys and Capercaille (who i thought were worth the £35 alone) but am now overjoyed i turned up reletavely early. Otis Gibbs was humorous and John Doyle's ensemble were stompin!
Could have been a bigger crowd but the numbers were easily manageable with nary a hint of bother and meant a great view of the stage. Quality venue, just right methinks and could easily fit more in.
Please bring this festival back year on year and keep up the quality of the acts that even made the rain worthwhile!
PS twirling at the end to "Fishermans Blues" definite highlight!!!!!!!!!!!

Badly Drawn Boy Always does that
Ramsbottom made a great start as a first event and I hope it returns. The organisation was great, the people friendly and the weather mixed!
for anyone blaming the sound guys for Badly Drawn Boy, he always does that, doesn't tune his guitar properly, thinks he's bigger than he is and has a strop, blaming everyone but himself. What he should do is accept he's a musician and get on with it, performance is part of his job.
- no one else has complained about the sound for any other performance the whole weekend!
So yes, bring back ramsbottom festival, leave BDB to making cd's in his studio.

Brilliant!
This was a fantastic event despite the grim weather. I'm excited to think that this will return year upon year and get bigger and better. It will really put Ramsbottom on the map for the North West and is great news for the locals, me being one of them! Congratulations to the organisers and to all who worked so hard to make this such a huge success.

Friday Night
Friday Night
After the heavy rains late in the afternoon, it was no surprise that there was a short delay where the ground staff did a fantastic job of clearing the standing water off the pitch.
I thought the venue was set out well, with food & drink readily available,if a little on the high side.
Now to the bands on show.
Molly Bloom - I thought they were good but maybe not everyones cuppa. Good set tho & most of the crowd enjoyed them.
Marc Radcliffe & the Big Figures - These guys were great. Good R&B, good tunes & I think they would have been better than the main act - if the main act wern't who they were!
The Animals - Absolutley amazing & then they brought Steve Cropper out. Now I didn't know who he was but when he stsrted playing the tunes he wrote it was out of this world - Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Soul Man, Green Onions - WOW
I didnt get chance to go Saturday or Sunday but did hear the music as I was walking around.
Cherry Ghost sounded good Saturday tea time, & Capercaille were great from the park in the dark on sunday night. Also just stuck my head out the door & heard Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys on Sunday night.
Overall, reasonably priced for the weekend, great for the town, great bands & cant wait for next year.

Saturday
We had a great time, we left the kids with the grandparents but wished we had dragged them along in the afternoon then dropped them off home later then come back to enjoy. Well impressed with the venue, all that rain but little mud, how do I get my lawn to be like that? Kid British got everyone bouncing, well done them!! the young knives were really good and funny too, star of the show and why we bought tickets was badly drawn boy, he should of been headlining!! no dout about it, what a talent, this guy turns up with a guitar on his own and puts up with a really bad sound setup, ok he had a little strop (rightly so) but he got on with it and did what he is brilliant at!! amazing!! we could of and would of stood there in the rain for hours listening to Damon, a true legend!!!!!!!!!!!! and nice touch bringing on his daughter, well done her! top day in a lovely place and a freindly atmosphere. All we've done since is play our Badly Drawn Boy cd's!!!!!

RammyFest. Saturday
We, a family of five, had a great time at Rammy Fest on Saturday. Despite the awful weather we thoroughly enjoyed our day. Highlights include Clint Boon in the silent disco; this was a revelation, watching Mr Boon and listening to some great tunes. The atmosphere in there pretty much summed up the atmosphere of the day, a crowd of mostly older music fans enjoying good music, good beer and not letting the weather dampen their spirits. The kids went back to the silent disco a few times throughout the day. We only really watched music on the main stage and didn't get to see t'other stage. Highlights were the Young Knives, great music, nice banter between them and the crowd. Badly Drawn Boy was a bit of a t**t, sounded ok but was complaining about not being a headliner, we thought the Guillemots justified their headline status with a great performance and a nice big sound. The beer tent was great, served a really nice selection of ales. Criticisms would be, not being able to take any food or drink into the festival, when you are there for 8-10 hours with kids it becomes a dear do when you have to buy all your food and drink. Food was overpriced, had to take a burger back when they left the plastic on! Hopefully the music workshop will be in a bigger tent next time. Overall, great venue, great atmosphere and great music.

Saturday
Saturday: took the kids during the day - shame the bouncy castles weren't up, although they enjoyed jumping in the mud! After we'd offloaded them, we took full advantage of the music, silent disco (which was brilliant) and fab strawberry cider. Cherry Ghost, Travelling Band and the Guillemots were fantastic, and it's a real privilege to go to a local festival and enjoy great music. Low point was Badly Draw Boy, I thought he was an arrogant ****er, and he was outshone by his talented daughter singing.
Will definitely go next year, but would advise more activities for the kids, and more covered areas for the unpredictable Lancashire weather.
Great festival!
This was my first festival and despite the cold and terrible rain, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was fantastic and really family friendly. The music was eclectic and there was something for everyone. Really enjoyed Molly B's set. I love the fact that they are so original can't be pigeon-holed. They seemed to enjoy playing so much and are a credit to the local music scene.I loved the 'silent disco'. How funny was that! I really hope the festival is repeated next year.
The only recommendations I have are:
- allow festival-goers to bring in small fold-up chairs and picnics (at least food)
- increase the choice of drinks at the bars and sell a better quality wine.
Well done organisers and volunteers.
