The UK will be treated to some hip hop royalty when politically charged wordsmiths Dead Prez grace its borders at key venues with their blistering self produced beats that have constituted to a catalogue of classic hits.
Emerging during the nineties period after being discovered by Lord Jamar of Band Nubian, M-1 and Stic.man the duo who perform under the Dead Prez moniker turned jiggy hip hop on its head with their renowned smash 'D.O.P.E', followed up by their monumental hit '(It's Bigger Than) Hip Hop' (below).
The reverberations from the track were deafening as it absolutely blew the genre apart with its bass injected beats and lyrics conspiring to the death of Biggie as well as lambasting the majority of hip hop at that time.
Another golden touch was added when Lets Get Free dropped, one of the greatest hip hop albums of its time that saw the duo embark upon numerous political ventures, determined to use the power of hip hop to create an airing legacy for the duo.
You can catch the duo at the following dates:
Liverpool, The Kazimier, Thursday 23rd October
Leeds, Brudenell Social Club, Friday 24th October
