Harpenden House Hotel is a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian town house with a rich history and the best hotel in Harpenden, a bustling country Market Town, with a multitude of boutique shops. Harpenden House is the only 4 star hotel in Harpenden, and is ideally located for access to Luton, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Welwyn Garden City from the M1, M25 and A1 motorways. Luton Airport is only 6 miles away and just 10 minutes by train from Harpenden Railway Station, which is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Harpenden, opposite Harpenden common, with free parking and free WiFi for guests throughout the hotel and public areas. The majority of bedrooms and meeting rooms are adjacent to the Main house in the Garden and Hertfordshire Wings. The Garden Wing houses two apartments and the luxurious large Executive rooms with garden views, kingsize beds and separate bath and shower. The menu at the WinePress at Harpenden House Hotel is overseen by Daniel Galmiche, a Michelin starred chef, who has worked in conjunction with the head chef at the hotel to create inspired, delicious unstuffy food, served in a relaxed atmosphere. Wine features heavily and there are 40 wines available by the glass, which have been handpicked. Unwind and take in the atmosphere of the Welcombe lounge, serving traditional afternoon tea. Many of the original period features remain, including a large 18th Century fireplace in the lounge. For the more energetic, there is free access and use of Harpers Leisure Centre, pool and gym situated just across the road; and also several golf courses in the area.The hotel is close to a wide range of attractions, such as historical Hatfield House and Knebworth House, Royal National Rose Garden, Hertfordshire Show Ground, Luton Hoo Estate and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, home to over 2,500 animals and one of Europe's largest wildlife conservation parks. Impresses by location and a lovely main house. Had reserved an Executive garden room which one would hope would be nice however it was freezing on arrival with no heaters on. Some of the pillows were grubby, the walls had damp on them. Having the radiator on to try and heat the badly insulated room at night kept us awake with its noise. The bed was two singles locked together however still very uncomfortable as you spend all night sleeping on the join. The matress was rock solid. The bathroom wasnt particulary clean Read more...
