The Stone Roses have today announced that they will be reforming for a world tour and recording new material.
In a press conference in London today, Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary 'Mani' Mounfield and Alan 'Reni' Wren confirmed that they will be playing two dates at Manchester's Heaton Park on June 28th and June 30th, with the dates forming part of a 2012 world tour.
Ian Brown and Mani will put their solo careers on hold for the reunion, with Mani announcing that he will be parting ways with Primal Scream for the forseeable future.
Mani described the feeling when the four musicians come together as 'magical', while Ian Brown promised that this would 'not just be a trip down memory lane', with the plan being to record completely new Stone Roses material. 'But we said that before' he added.
The band described how it was the loss of Mani's mum that started to bring them back together. They delayed the announcement of the reunion due to the recent riots.
'We'll ride it out until the wheels fall off' said Ian Brown, adding 'This is a live resurrection - so you'd better be careful'.
