Skiddle's Pick of Parklife 2011

Overwhelmed by the Parklife lineup? Us too. But after taking a couple of days to digest it all, here's the Skiddle team's pick of who to see at Parklife 2011.

Wow, what a lineup. Hopefully by now you’ve had a bit of time to let it all sink in, and work out who you’re most looking forward to seeing at Parklife Festival.

We’re all spoilt for choice at Skiddle, but we’ve asked around to find out what the team are most looking forward to about the Parklife Weekender. So without further ado, here are our Picks of the Park:

Rich, Director:

"I had all the best intentions of making the first ever Parklife Festival last year, but then we got a last minute booking for Rockness and made a 10 hour drive and a sleep in Tesco car park instead. But my wife Emma was lucky enough to attend and then didn't stop talking about Parklife until Christmas, so Parklife 2011 is a must on this year's calendar. Personally I'm really looking forward to seeing Kelis again (after her amazing performance at Pride 2010) along with Metronomy (as I've heard so much but seen so little) along with the usual 2manyDJs, Horse Meat Disco, Jamie Jones favourites i've learnt to love over the years. Finally how could I look at that line-up and not mention DJ Shadow and Grandmaster Flash, two artists that I knew about before I even knew what dance music was! So I will definitely be heading down and absorbing some of that through the old ear drums and rib cage combination. The greatest thing about Parklife 2011 though? It's on our doorstep, and that means the majority of my friends will be able to join me for an EPIC two days of fun, frolics and all round entertainment right in the heart of Manchester. Bring it On."

Jayne, Editor:

"Oh God, there’s just too much choice. But for me it’s all about the Now Wave arena I think. I’ll have to forego some of the sunshine and main stage action for Hercules & Love Affair, the incredible Mount Kimbie and of course, DOOM who I was gutted to miss when he played for the Warehouse Project last year. D/R/U/G/S will be a good one too. They were great at Band on the Wall for In The City last year, so I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re getting on. As for the rest...  Art Department in the Crosstown tent will be excellent, and I know it’s an obvious choice but Chase & Status always make for an amazing live show. I’m expecting big things of their Sunday night headline slot – and I can’t wait to see ‘Blind Faith’ performed live, outdoors, on a balmy Summer night. Bliss."

Kat, Account Manager:

"This year's Parklife Festival line-up is huge and it's hard to highlight my hot picks because I want to see so many! Saturday for me is all about Boys Noize, Kelis, High Contrast, Toddla T and Simian Mobile Disco. Sunday is most definitely Grandmaster Flash, DJ Shadow, 2manyDJs and Erol Alkan. May I add that all I'm hearing from my friends is DOOM DOOM DOOM! So that's where you will probably find me on the Saturday too. Roll on June!"

Chris, PR Manager:

"Having caught Kelis live at Manchester Pride last year, she has to be my most anticipated act for Parklife. Her voice and outfit were just incredible. The electro-house sound of her last album Flesh Tone translates perfectly into a live performance, and with her own mashup of Swedish House Mafia tunes and the legendary Milkshake/Holiday (Madonna) mix, you can't really go wrong can you? I have no doubt Kelis is going to get the whole of Platt Fields Park dancing!"
