This will be the band's only Scottish festival appearance of the year, and one at which they'll be debuting material from their long awaited new album alongside classic hits from the past three decades.
Formed in 1982 and fronted by Glaswegian Bobbie Gillespie, Primal Scream from an important thread in the fabric of UK music history; their 1991 album Screamadelica being undoubtedly one of the most important albums of recent times.
Despite multiple line-up changes (the current line-up consists of Gillespie, Andrew Innes, Martin Duffy, Debbie Googe and Darrin Mooney), Primal Scream have remained at the forefront of UK music and still headline festivals across the globe, 30 year after their formation.
Also announced today for the festival are Public Service Broadcasting, who'll be apperaing alongside the headliners on the main Summerisle stage, with their unique sound that mixes archived WW2 samples with electronic beats and live audio visual transmissions.
Wickerman Festival co-ordinator Helen Chalmers said "Primal Scream is one of Britain’s most iconic, inventive and exciting bands and having them play at Wickerman is a major coup, both for the Festival and its fans."
More acts for Wickerman 2013 will be announced in due course.
