This saturday sees Erol Alkan take over Manchester's huge Warehouse Project for a very special night he is curating himself, bringing in acts that are friends and family, that reflect his across the board DJing style or are just very very good.
The line up is a snapshot of everything joyously dynamic in dance music today. Hercules & Love Affair bring their fabulous trans-gender Queen Creole & the Coconuts-style New York disco, live extravaganza, Switch and Diplo fidgit ferociously, plus DJ sets from Late Of The Pier, Skull Juice and The Riotous Rockers, while Erol will of course headline himself and also play together with Richard Norris in their psychedelicised Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve guise. And not forgetting the super special guests...Franz Ferdinand!
To get an idea of just how in demand Erol has become since he ended his seminal Trash Monday nights, his current Disco 3000 mix (available on his monthly podcasts at www.erolalkan.co.uk) has now attracted over 50,000 subscribers while the E.R.O.L. Keeps The Kids Dancing' t-shirts are de rigueur clubwear from Sao Paolo to Stockholm. A hectic international DJing schedule this summer has taken Erol from the sun of Ibiza to battling through the mud of Bestival, while a studio step-up from remixer do jour to sought-after indie producer, helming the current, critically acclaimed albums from Mystery Jets, Late Of the Pier and Long Blondes.
