Liverpool night Discoteca Poca celebrates its first birthday at The Shipping Forecast on Friday 14th October, with the help of the mighty Andrew Weatherall.
More than just a DJ and producer, the Rotters Golf Club front man sits firmly at the top of the pile as a pioneer. Simply speaking, Andrew is a jewel in the crown of British musicians.
Infamous for closing down his projects at their peak- including labels Sabrettes, Sabres of Paradise and Emissions- he truly is the KING of the underground. It is this defiance of commercialism that maintains him in such high esteem amongst his fans and peers.
Choosing not to follow the path of many big name DJs in the 90s, Andrew pursued a more daring route with his passion for IDM, establishing himself with many other greats like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada in the Warp Records family and strapped Primal Scream on a rocket to success.
A DJ for those who know the difference, Andrew Weatherall is set to make Discoteca Poca's first birthday one very special event indeed as he slays the Funktion 1 sound system in the atmospheric basement of The Shipping Forecast.
