Iconic Britpop band Blur have been announced as the headline act for the BT London Live Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in Hyde Park.
Joining Blur for this ‘Best Of British’ line up will be The Specials and New Order, with a special guest to be announced soon.
The concert will celebrate the climax of the city’s celebrations for the London Olympic Games and is organised by the Mayor of London, The Royal Parks and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
This will be Blur’s single major live performance in 2012 and sees them back onstage in Hyde Park following their sold-out dates of summer 2009.
This massive open-air concert staged in London’s Hyde Park coincides with one of the key moments of the London 2012 Olympic Games on Sunday August 12; the date of the Closing Ceremony.
As well as witnessing the live reunion of one of the UK’s biggest bands ticketholders will also be able to witness the London 2012 celebrations as giant screens in Hyde Park display highlights of the Closing Ceremony from the Olympic Park, courtesy of the BBC.
