Ashley's passion is for funky house music. He is best suited to the party crowd, who always respond well both to his music and energetic/lively style behind the decks but also regularly plays deeper sets. Ultimately, its all about good house music.
Ashley began playing records during the early nineties, whilst involved with free parties in south-east england. heavily influenced by early house music and breakbeat, he rapidly developed a broad taste in dance music.
Summer 1994 saw him take up a residency in Asia nightclub in Puerto Banus, Spain, which lead to him guesting at a number of other venues in and around Marbella, including the awesome Oh! Marbella.
On his return to England he moved to Leeds where he set up Shimmy. Shimmy went on to be one of the leading midweek club nights attracting the party crowd for which Leeds was at that time famed. this acted as a stepping stone to guest slots during the mid nineties at Up yer Ronson, Vague, Miss Moneypenny's, the Music Factory, Cafe Mex and even a monthly residency at the wild carry on club Casa Loco.
Ashley then responded to the changing clubbing culture in leeds by taking weekend residencies at various bars which in turn led to him setting up the Sunday outdoor afternoon remedy sessions at the courtyard where his eclectic style was encouraged, mixing up jazz, drum and bass, hip hop and even a smattering of 80s for the fragile post clubbing crowd (as well as those who insisted on dancing on the picnic tables to the Jackson 5!).
Moving back to london in 1998 he became involved with the Cheeky parties - once again feeding his passion for uplifting house music through a series of one off shindigs. At the same time he played regular late night spots at the Spot in Soho where always delved deep into his record collection for more of an 'anything goes' session.
He also took up a residency at the infamous wednesday sessions in the early days of the White House for the south london party crowd. Including Basement Jaxx, the Freestylers and Boy George, Ashley played here alongside some of the country's most well renowned DJs.
Ashley was also a founding member of the Shift collective overseeing the musical element of their cutting edge multimedia nights at Notting Hill's Cherryjam. This particularly pushed his taste for the deeper ethnic side of dance music playing jazzy and African influenced house intermingled with breaks and whatever else suited the moment.
Over the last few years Ashley's djing has also taken him on various jaunts overseas including playing at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm, the always debauched Es Vive in Ibiza and three djing trips to South East Asia. A recent highlight for Ashley was playing to 1000 people at the Bokor new years eve party in a derelict mountain top casino in Cambodia. He has also just returned from a trip out to Morocco where he guested at Pacha Marrakech and Nikki Beach.
Back in england Ashley now regularly guests at various nights across the country, including Gate 21 at Pacha London (including playing at the first birthday party with one of his long time heroes Stonebridge) and southend's finest Coco Cuba.
More than a decade and a half on and Ashley's passion and energy for dance music is stronger than ever - something that never fails to come across to all he plays to.
