Leeds Eating Guide

With so many student mouths to feed, Leeds is a city that’s saturated with eateries to suit all budgets. Here are a few places where you can line your stomach without busting your budget.

The Library

Housed in a converted library (hence the name – clever eh?),  this ‘Scream’ pub is a stone’s throw away from the University and offers great quality meals at student friendly prices.

229 Woodhouse Lane, 0113 244 0794

BRB

Short for Bar Room Bar, this trendy bar on Call Lane offers a superb 2 for 1 on pizzas on Tuesdays.

Dry Dock

Another ‘Scream’ pub, The Dock has bags of character due to it actually being a converted boat (yes, a BOAT) stranded on a grass hill opposite Leeds Metropolitan University.

Woodhouse Lane, 0113 391 2658

Art’s Café Bar and Restaurant

Local favourite Art's is a haven for lovers of food and art in Leeds. This café, bar and restaurant dishes up hearty modern European cuisine and lunchtime snacks and sandwiches to a laid-back crowd that packs out its location near the Corn Exchange.

42 Call Lane, 0113 243 8243

Kada’s

At the back of the Corn Exchange, Kada’s is an institution - an Arabic coffee shop that does incredible pre-club saviour type sandwiches and a fantastic vegetarian platter.

3-5 Crown Street, 0113 243 3433

Sahara

Located on Eastgate, Sahara is similar to Kada’s, but go after clubbing when you occasionally find yourself in the middle of an impromptu belly-dancing-bongo-playing-4am party.

23 Eastgate, 0113 243 6060

Drawing Room at Oulton Hall

It’s not exactly a restaurant, but we just couldn’t resist including this utterly charming tea room and café, located inside a magnificent 18th century mansion with breathtaking gardens. Play Lord or Lady of the Manor for one wistful afternoon, with afternoon tea served by your own butler in the Grade II listed hall.

Oulton Hall, Rothwell Lane, 0113 282 1000

Citrus

Located on the bustling North Lane in Headingley, Citrus is a three floor restaurant and bar, with an excellent modern British menu and the all-important brilliant Sunday lunch. What’s more, it’s surprisingly affordable considering its great quality.

11 North Lane, 0113 274 9002
