Southampton sport guide
Sport Solent provides a wide range of facilities for the students to use and various sports teams that first-year students are encouraged to join. Among the facilities available are three Soulutions fitness suites, two sports halls, squash courts, a climbing wall, football pitches, a cricket pitch, tennis courts and netball courts.
Southampton travel
Most students in Southampton tend to walk everywhere. Those who go to Southampton Solent University will be based in the heart of the city and will be in close proximity to the town centre, accommodation etc. Students at the University of Southampton can expect a 20 minute bus journey into town although the award-winning Uni-Link bus service is available to transport students to teaching sites, halls of residences, the city centre, and sports and leisure complexes.

City Art Gallery For a spot of culture head over to the City Art Gallery, home to around 200 pieces from its internationally renowned collection. The Gallery boasts over3,500 works that span six centuries of European art’s history. The popular high street is a stone’s throw away from the Southampton Solent University. In the heart of the high street is the West Quay shopping centre, which boasts over 90 stores spread out over three levels.

With the power of the NUS card students are entitled to discounts at many food establishments, mainly fast-food restaurants. For a quick bite in between seminars pop over to McDonald’s where students can receive a free hamburger, cheeseburger or McFlurry when a meal is bought; for a tasty treat Shakeaway offer a 10% discount; and if hunger strikes at the end of day order a pizza from Domino’s where student discount is also applied.
