Icons of the British indie scene, The Libertines have been announced as headliners at this year's Tramlines Festival. The inner city spectacular in Sheffield will take place between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd July across multiple venues in the city with Pete, Carl, John and Gary topping the bill at the Ponderosa mainstage.
It's been 10 years since the Libertines released their seminal debut album Up The Bracket which, as well as its ripsnorting title track, also included the likes of 'Death On The Stairs', 'Time For Heroes' and fan favourite 'The Good Old Days'.
Controversy has always followed the band, not least down to Doherty's turbulent relationship with the press, and they split in late 2004. They buried the hatchet in 2010 and played a slew of reunion shows in the years that followed, culminating in the group releasing their third album Anthems For Doomed Youth in 2015.
Also unveiled in the first wave Tramlines 2017 line up announcement are 90's girl band All Saints, rocksteady legends Toots & The Maytals, politically charged rapper Akala and heaps more including Metronomy, Twin Atlantic, Cabbage and the Hot 8 Brass Band.
