The Score - Opus - Review

26th May 2009

The Score are a band based in London that is comprised of 2 members from the capital and 3 of LA origin, all contributing to the writing and creation of the music. What results is a trans-atlantic album entitled “Opus” which is contemporary but simultaneously reminiscent of 90’s R’n’B, with multiple songs sounding like they came off the Save the last Dance soundtrack. Influenced from both sides of the pond, the tracks are soulful providing perfect harmonies and tight production and at times intense bass and beats, toning it down where necessary for a quick croon. All are worthy in different ways of placement on this album and each leave a lasting impression. Self assured but with good reason to be, this is a pertinent and impressive addition to the UK R’n’B scene.
