Taking over the terrace at Leeds' Mint Warehouse, the last Bank Holiday party of the year sees these two pioneers in their game come to Leeds to play back to back, in what will be a rare UK appearance for both of them.
Not much needs to be said of Ricardo; an absolute pioneer of the minimal house and techno game, and by far and away one of the most influential artists in contemporary electronic music. Born in Santiago Chile in 1970 and moving to Berlin when he was a youngster, even today Ricardo's sound reflects his two homes- taking equal inspiration from classic Berlin techno and loopy South American drum rhythms. UK appearances from Ricardo are rare so you really are in for a treat here.
Like Ricardo, Zip also plays only a handful of shows on our shores a year. Real name Thomas Franzmann, Zip co-owns and curates the wonderful Perlon Records, one of the most distinguished techno labels out there. Releasing since 97, Perlon's intellectual twist on electronic music has seen artists such as Akufen, Cassy and even Ricardo release on the ground breaking label. Their refusal to bend to the digital format in favour of vinyl has seen them gain respect from all corners of the globe.
Also confirmed to appear are Annie Errez (System), Bobby O'Donnell (System), Brinsley Kazak (Louche) and Josh T (Louche). Room 2 will be hosted by Butter Side Up, with tunes from Hamish Cole, Hugh Bailey and Jonny Sleight.
The Mint Warehouse's summer parties have been a refreshing addition to Bank Holidays in Leeds this year, and with this final Bank Holiday blow out it looks like System and Louche have outdone themselves. More acts are yet to be announced, and tickets will sell fast - so get yours now.
