If you're looking for a super special way to woo your loved one this Valentine's Day, then it doesn't get much more romantic than this: a violin concert in the beautiful surroundings of Ely Cathedral.
On Monday 14th February 2011, couples in Cambridgeshire will have the opportunity to celebrate Valentine's Day in classic style when international virtuoso violinist Nicola Loud performs in the stunning setting of Ely Cathedral.
Loud's glittering career launched when she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year at age 15. She has appeared with almost all the major British orchestras including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

On February 14th, the audience will be treated to a performance of Cesar Franck’s timeless violin Sonata in A, an epic love story that unfolds with great passion and virtuosity, along with a host of other popular favourites by Massenet, Elgar, Kreisler and Saint Saens in addition to breathtaking works by Sarasate.
Nicola will be accompanied by local British concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith, who appeared in a solo recital at Ely Cathedral last year. On Feb 14th this year, he will give a single solo performance of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
This special concert marks the first time these two outstanding artists have performed together in public.
