One of the bands that surely epitomized the very nature of rave culture is Happy Mondays. Since gaining notoriety back in 1988 with their second album “Bummed”, and again later with the Paul Oakenfold produced album “Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches”, Happy Mondays proved that were here to stay, and remain one of the most influential members of the Manchester music scene, as well as Britain’s as a whole.

With ten years of maintaining the same lineup, albeit with the addition of Bez along the way, the Mondays finally split up in 1993 with Shaun Ryder and Bez eventually forming Black Grape. With a number of reincarnations along the way, the Happy Mondays that we know and love finally put aside their differences and rejoined with the original lineup at the beginning of last year.

Their 2012 reunion and subsequent tour resulted in a series of sell-out shows, the Happy Mondays have proven repeatedly that they still have the magic that made them so incredibly popular way back in the heyday of Madchester.

On Sunday the 26th of May (have no fear, the day after is a Bank Holiday!) the original lineup of the Happy Mondays will be gracing Brighton with their inimitable charm and stage presence, fresh from their first work in the studio for years, reinvigorated and ready to wow audiences with their staggering talent and charisma.

Joining them will be fellow Manchester icons 808 State, who remain leaders of the dance music scene with their irresistible take on acid house combined with live instrumentation. The 26th of May is going to be an unmissable event, as two of the biggest icons of rave and pop culture take to the stage the Brighton Centre.
