Carlisle promoters Uber have grown from humble beginnings to be one of the country’s leading nights. We chat to Uber’s Ki Creighton about returning to Wickerman after ten years.

Have you played at The Wickerman Festival before? What was your best memory of it?
Yes , (FACT) I actually played the first ever house track on the first ever Wickerman 10 years ago. My best memory is Yousef dropping Daft Punk a few years back just before the burning and the cannons going off

What can the crowd expect from your set this year?
I’ve been kindly given two slots this year, 7-8pm where I’ll drop my new material and keep things very cool and underground, and 12:15-1am where I will let loose with a few surprises thrown in. I've been after this set for 10years!

How does your set differ when you’re playing at a festival to when you play in clubs?
It’s a completely different ball game going from club to festival. Variation is key at a big festival like Wickerman as the crowd will be made up of house and techno heads as well as D&B, electro, live bands and specialist fans!

Have you had chance to look at the rest of The WIckerman line-up? Anyone else you’re looking forward to seeing?
Yasmin , Riva Starr , X-press 2 , Feeder , Coral , Utah Saints , Krafty Kuts and Zoltar!

What’s your top festival survival tip?
An empty plastic pint cup!

What summer tunes are really working well for you at the moment?
My own track with Yousef "Dont Touch Me" is blowing up all over with everyone from Riva Starr , X-press 2 , Yousef , Slam etc dropping it worldwide. Also Anthony Collins "Don’t Look Now" (Roman Flugel) , Popof "Wax Machine" and Leonardo Gonelli's "When You Lose" have done big things!

If you were DJing at the end of the world party and the moment was upon us, what would be the last track you’d ever play?
"Last Night a DJ Saved My Life". Ironic but true!

What have been your personal and professional highlights of the past few years?
We  (UBER) a few months ago did the two massive Radio One Big Weekend parties in Carlisle , that Friday and Saturday night will never be beaten in Carlisle as long as we live… period! On a personal note, my second child Jessica being born was the ultimate for me.

What are you hoping the next few years will bring?
Moving more to the production side of things. I’m going back in the studio with Yousef again soon and have been taken on as a stable act for Baker St Records, which is great. On the Uber front I think we have grown now into one of the country’s top nights, which is nice to see after all the hard work from all the team!

What makes a great DJ?
Adaptability to change, willingness to try out different things, crowd interaction and the small matter of semi decent mixing!
