Discoteca Poca turns two with A Love From Outer Space

In the past two years, Liverpool's Discoteca Poca have established themselves as one of the most exciting underground electronic nights around, packing out their monthly Shipping Forecast home with appearances from the likes of Dyed Soundorom, Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson, and Stopmakingme.

October 13th sees the night celebrate two years of disco debauchery with the help of Discoteca Poca favourite Andrew Weatherall - this time under his A Love From Outer Space moniker, with partner Sean Johnston.

Friends for over two decades, the duo came together in 2010 to create A Love From Outer Space; showcasing their hard-earned, hard-to-define, and hard-to-find audio discoveries through eclectic and unpredictable DJ sets around the globe.  

With over 40 years of DJing experience between them, the pair have a stupendous collection to pick from for this marathon five hour set, which will see them experiment with a mish-mash of house, post punk, psychedelia, disco and more; pitting old against new and genre against genre. 

As Johnston explains, “it’s a down-tempo to mid-tempo psychedelic disco evening. The thing you've got to understand about ALFOS is that there isn't a typical one, and often we don't know what to expect ourselves”.

Advance tickets for Discoteca Poca's 2nd birthday are £12, available now through Skiddle. Capacity at this event is strictly limited due to the intimate nature of the venue.
