Creamfields 2007 Gets the Green Light

6th Jun 2007

Creamfields has been awarded a licence for its 2007 show – to be held again at the Daresbury Estate in Halton, Cheshire. The decision was made by the Regulatory Committee of Halton Borough Council on Friday

This year there were just nine objections to the festival, compared to more than 400 individuals from 242 premises for the 2006 event

Cream Chief Executive James Barton said the successful staging of last year’s show proved the quality of the organisation’s event management

“Last year we demonstrated our considerable expertise at managing a major show like this. Moving the whole event to a new site was a significant achievement and we carried it out successfully thanks to the excellence of our operational team.

He added that he was looking forward to a similarly successful event this time round now that the licence had been granted

“I’m confident that we will again take the opportunity to confirm the quality of our organisational ability and keep any disruption in the local area to a minimum

“That ability also ensures that our great line up of headline acts and DJs can be enjoyed by the thousands of visitors Creamfields attracts."

This year’s show, on August 25th and 26th, will feature the Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Kelis and Mark Ronson on the main stage, plus New Young Pony Club, Ladytron, Erick Morillo, 2 Many DJ’s, Simian Mobile Disco, Harry Romero, and the return of the legendary Carl Cox, among many other performers

Creamfields Tickets are available from Skiddle now at £57+booking fee

The event also proved to be of huge financial benefit to local businesses last year, especially hotels, guest houses, taxi firms, pubs and food outlets

An independent report prepared by The Mersey Partnership for tourism organisation Visit Chester and Cheshire said that the total visitor spend generated by Creamfields was £6.7 million, of which 80% - or £5.4 million - stayed in Cheshire

Leader of Halton Borough Council, Cllr Tony McDermott, commented

“The Council’s Regulatory Committee has agreed to approve the licence application, which was developed to take on board last year’s experiences, and which we hope will deliver and build upon the successes of that event.

“Once again we hope that Halton’s residents and traders will benefit from, and enjoy, the festival which is a major event for the borough.”

Bill Badrock, Chairman of the Halton Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the return of the festival and said he wished everyone success with this year’s show

“This is a huge publicity event which captures the news headlines and makes a significant contribution to the local economy.

“Creamfields is a global player and the local authority did well to secure this event; and also thanks to the Chamber’s president Lord Daresbury for providing the venue. I wish all those involved every success.”
