| Hey... I'll leave a message here instead of writing a rant on the message board. I am a massive twat, but there's a bit of me that likes an argument and it seems like we're just like we're arguing semantics anyway. Skiddle needs more people like you posting messages because for a dance music forum there are never any good debates like the ones found on Dogs On Acid or Underground House.net. The internet is full of mouths that can spout off like I've just done, but to be honest, you're the only person who has posted on here who can argue a point with the knowledge to back things up. Your point about jungle is kind of true, but the beginnings of what became known as Drum & Bass is only about 15/16 years old and that's the way I see it because even though it stemmed from the breakbeat hardcore scene it became something so much more intricate and artistic than just a bunch of tunes played at raves. To me, Dubstep is a pretty recent thing, if you take into account the fact it has stemmed from the 2-step garage/grime scene it is a pretty new genre which only beginning to become more sophisticated as the producers mature. The Skiddle forum only has a certain amount of people who post on a regular basis and it never seems to get as heated as it has done with the Statik thread. I'm fascinated by the whole dance music movement from the late 80's, as at the time, it was just as important as punk or rock 'n' roll. I'm aware that my personality can make me a passionate, and sometimes, a contradictory arsehole, but I'd be quite interested in hearing your story. If you met me in person I'm pretty sure you'd think I was a thoroughly nice bloke. Take it easy Tim |
