My wife & I stayed for 3 nights Friday to Monday while we attended the Elbow gig at Jodrell Bank.
The cost of £285.00 included b&b, the first nights meal, & a £10 drinks voucher to use with our meal.
We went into the Tempus Restaurant on the first evening at the hotel, gave our room number, explained that our meal was included in the price & sat down to order.
Ordering drinks, we handed in our voucher only for the restaurant manager to come over to us & say the voucher was out of date,& drinks would have to be paid for, this was in a loud voice in front of other guests. We explained that the voucher had been given to us at reception, & he said he would ring to check. He then came back, offered apologies & assured us all would be well.
My wife ordered a rib eye steak well done, it was miniscule, about 1/4 inch thick, & the peppercorn sauce was awful.
I ordered a 8oz burger, & I must say it was delicious.
We asked for our bill, as we knew the £10 drinks voucher only covered a portion of the drinks cost.
We were then presented with a bill for £62.00, this being the cost of the meal & drinks minus the £10 voucher.
Again, we had to explain that the meal was included in our hotel cost, and again, a call was made to reception.
We were then presented with another bill for £2.20, this being the amount that was not covered by the £10 voucher.
Needless to say, after this we never ate again in the hotel.
It has to be said though, that the majority of the staff were very helpful & polite over the weekend, this includes the bar staff, reception & the chap who came to our room at 12.30am Saturday to try to fix the shower for us.
As there were no maintenance staff on, we were without a shower all weekend.
So...All in all, poor customer service in the very overpriced restaurant, general good service from everyone else, (we run a pub & know the value of good service), but an hotel more geared to corporate functions & seminars.
For £285.00 we expected more.
As an addendum, our account was charged a random £12.00 two days after checking out......It seems that someone had booked us another meal on the Monday evening, 10 hours after checking out !
